Lady Vikings' JV softball uses big lumber to win three games

The Huntington North High School junior varsity softball team used the big lumber to pile up three wins this weekend, sweeping a twinbill from visiting Muncie Central on Saturday, April 18, after beating visiting Columbia City on Friday, April 17.

Now 4-0, the Lady Vikings clubbed Muncie Central, 10-2 and 13-10.

Taylor Pursifull led the Lady Viking attack in the opener with three hits, including two triples, and two RBI. Alyssa Grabner added in three hits of her own.

Winning pitcher Allison Johnson limited Muncie Central to just three hits.

In the second contest, Grabner upped her production to four hits, and added two runs batted in, to lead HNHS. Peyton Pike contributed three hits, Pursifull added two more hits and two RBI and Jessica Jerabek had two hits and three RBI.

Brianna McClellan was the winning pitcher.

The Lady Vikings pounded Columbia City on Friday, 14-9, scoring half of their runs in the opening inning. Pursifull had three hits, including a double, and two RBI, Pike had two hits and two RBI, Shelly Bradford had two hits and Johnson added two RBI.

McClellan was the winning pitcher.
