Viking golfers use tight scoring pattern to defeat pair

The Huntington North High School boys' varsity golf team used solid scoring from top to bottom to score victories over host Northfield and Elmhurst on Wednesday, April 15.

E.J. Tackett led the Vikings with a 41, but the other Viking golfers bunched within five strokes as HNHS shot a 174 to Northfield's 181 and Elmhurst's 212.

Garrett Bracht backed up Tackett with a 42, Alex Hoch fired a 45 and Brandon Whitesell and Neal Hamilton both shot a 46 on the day.

Josh Unger shot a 41 to lead Northfield and Josh Moore led Elmhurst with a 42.

In junior varsity action, Huntington North won by shooting a team score of 179 to Elmhurst's 256.

Viking scorers were Jordan Sweet, 41; Tyler Shearer, 45; Quinton Flora, Luke Smith and Tyler Frederick all shot 46 and Ryan Coble shot 49.
