HN sweeps the Canterbury Cavaliers

All three of the Huntington North High School basketball squads swept the Canterbury High School Cavaliers in competition on Thursday, Feb. 18.

The varsity basketball team started out strong and never looked back. Junior Zach Hubartt was responsible for putting the Vikings onto the scoreboard, doing so by gaining a three-point shot. Hubartt  continued to make several successful three point shots over the course of the evening.

With four minutes left in the first quarter, Huntington stood 13 to 9 above their guests, and moved to 21 to 11 by the end of the first quarter.

The Vikings stayed relatively comfortable, keeping a cushion between scores as time wore on. At the end of the half, 16 points stood between HNHS and Canterbury. Starting the third quarter at 39 to 23, Huntington managed to advance to 60 points by the end of the third. Canterbury advanced to 36.

With the time running down and the deficit becoming harder to close on, Canterbury managed a total of 47 points, falling to Huntington’s 76.

The junior varsity team ended the evening with a 44 to 28 victory and the freshman team won 50 to 17.
