HN gymnasts top 2 schools

The Huntington North High School gymnastics team hosted both Warsaw High School and Mississinewa High School on Monday, Feb. 8, taking first place overall with a score of 98.325.

In the vault exercise, sophomore Janna Teusch took first place with a score of 8.9. She was followed closely by junior Emma Wilson, who scored 8.8.

Third place went to Eva Richards, of Mississinewa.

In the bars exercise, first place was taken by Kenal Emmons, of Mississinewa. Emmons scored 7.9 and was followed closely by Huntington’s Emma Wilson, who took second with 7.875. Third place belonged to Mississinewa’s Zoe Rogers with a score of 7.7.

Scoring was a little more complicated for the beam competition that evening. Due to ties in scoring, first place belonged to both Emmons and

Wilson, who scored 8.150. Third place also resulted in a tie between Chloe Camomile and Teusch, with a score of 7.850.

In the floor exercise, Wilson took first place with a score of 9.175. She was closely followed by Emmons, the only floor competitor for Mississinewa. Emmons managed second place with an 8.875. Third place went to Emily Manry with a score of 8.825.

Warsaw ended the evening with an overall score of 88.575. Mississinewa ended the evening with 80.175.

This is the Huntington North High School gymnastics team’s second home meet of the season.

Other competitors from HNHS included Nikki Drancik, Olivia Hartup, Avery Pohler and Kinsey Strine. Allie Campbell is the team manager.

The team is coached by head coach Mandy Barton and assistant coach Stephanie Eckert.
