Addison Wiley will represent her Cross-Country team at the state competition

The Huntington North High School boys and girls cross country teams competed in the semi-state cross country competition on Saturday, Oct. 24, which was hosted by New Haven and held at the Huntington University Cross Country course.

In semi-state competition, the top six teams advance to the state competition, and the Huntington North girls team came just two points short of a sixth-place ranking. Advancing teams are Fort Wayne Carroll, with a score of 46, Hamilton Southeastern, with a score of 74, Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran, with a score of 124, Fishers, with a score of 171, Penn, with a score of 183, and Homestead, with a score of 200.

HNHS runner Addison Wiley, with a time of 18:26.1, placed fourth individually, meaning she will be able to represent her team at the state competition, which is slated for Saturday, Oct. 31.

Other team member times included Hannah Whitney coming in at 20:10.3 for 42nd place, Johanna Bragg coming in at 20:10.7, for 44th place, Ella Colclesser with a time of 20:48.6, 75th place, Gracie Fields, coming in at 79th place with a time of 20:54.0, Elle McDonalad, with a time of 21:20.7, good for 118th place and Lilly Clanin, running a 22 minute race for 146th place.

The Huntington North boys’ team placed 14th, with an overall score of 368. Advancing teams include Hamilton Southeastern, with a score of 109, Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran, with a score of 124, Fishers, with a tying score of 124, Fort Wayne Carroll, with a score of 165, Goshen, with a score of 188 and Penn, with a score of 206. Northridge missed the state competition by just eight points, ending their season with a semi-state score of 214.

HNHS runner Jonathan York crossed the finish line with a time of 16:28.8, coming in 36th. Next was Harrison Niswander with a time of 17:00.5, coming in 61st. Connor Miller, placing 94th, came in with a 17:28.5, with Gavin Byerly coming up in 116th with a 17:42.2.

Also, Gatlin Boxell crossed the line with an 18:08.2, in 150th place. Dane Blackburn, earning 167th, finished with a 18:49.2, and finally Tiler Carr, coming in 172nd, with a time of 18:53.8.
