HN CC advances to semi-state

The Huntington North girls cross country team won the team title at the Marion Regional at Indiana Wesleyan University Saturday, Oct. 17, while the Viking boys team finished fourth. Both efforts land the teams spots at the New Haven Semi-State, held at Huntington University, Saturday, Oct. 24.

Addison Wiley was the overall individual winner to lead the Vikings Saturday. She finished with a time of 17:56.8, nearly 31 seconds ahead of Norwell’s Lauren Bales.

Freshman Johanna Bragg placed 12th with a time of 19:49.3, followed closely by Hanna Whitney who finished 14th in 19:51.6.

Gracie Fields crossed the finish line in 18th place with a time of 20:06.3, while Ella Colclesser finished 28th in 20:48.4, Elle McDonald placed 31st in 21:02.1, and Lillian Clanin finished 37th with a time of 21:32.0.

In the boy’s race, Harrison Niswander led the Vikings with a sixth-place finish with a time of 16:23.0, while Jonathan York was right behind him in eighth place in 16:26.4. Connor Miller finished in 11th place with a time of 16:28.8, followed by Gavin Byerly in 17th place in 16:56.5.

Dane Blackburn finished in 48th place with a time of 18:09.5, Jordan Rockey placed 50th in 18:16.0, and Tiler Carr finished 56th in 18:19.1.

The semi-state competition on Saturday, Oct. 24, begins at 10 a.m. with the girls race followed by the boys race at 11:30 a.m.

The top six teams and the top 10 individuals from non-advancing teams will qualify for a spot at the state finals on Saturday, Oct. 31.
