Stoffel claims three individual titles at CL indoor championships

Hannah Stoffel won three individual titles in meet record times as the Huntington University women’s track team took fourth place at the third annual Crossroads League Indoor Track & Field Championships over the weekend at Indiana Wesleyan.

Aspen Dirr added also won an individual title in a meet record time as HU won a total of seven events.

Stoffel, a junior, started off her run by winning the 600-meter run on Friday, Feb. 14, with an NAIA season-best time of 1:31.56. On Saturday, Feb. 15, she ran away from the competition in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:15.07 and then clocked an NAIA season-best time of 2:44.81 to win the 1,000-meter run.

Dirr, a senior, won the conference title in the mile with a time of 4:49.13.

Stoffel and Dirr also made up half of the Foresters’ winning distance medley quartet, which set a new meet record of 11:48.16 and also include Jordan Adam and Mara McFarland.

Dirr also ran a leg for the winning 3,200-meter relay team. The team clocked in at 9:45.29 and included Olivia Von Gunten, Jessica Chojnacki and McFarland.

McFarland’s weekend also included qualifying for nationals in the 1,000 with a fourth place finish in 3:00.49.

Also scoring for HU were Chojnacki, seventh in the 600 at 1:42.41, Emily Wellsand in the weight throw, eighth and the 1,600-meter relay team, fourth in 4:03.35.

HU scored 93 points in the meet. Marian won the team title with 151 points.
