Lady Vike gymnasts lose opener to Dekalb

The Huntington North High School varsity gymnastics team lost to host Dekalb, 102.6-93.25, on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

The best placing for the Lady Vikes came in vault, where Aleah Eckert place second with an 8.85, Kinsey Strine was fourth with an 8.55 and Janna Teusch was seventh with an 8.25.

Corynn Barton placed third on the beam with a 7.5 for the only other top three placing for HNHS.

Completing the scoring on the beam, Chloe Camomile and Eckert tied for seventh with scores of 6.9.

On bars, Eckert took fifth with a 7.2 score. Camomile was seventh with a 6.9 and Kinsey Strine was eighth with a 6.7.

Eckert took fourth on the floor with a 9.15. Emily Manry was seventh with an 8.45 and Camomile took eighth with a 7.9.

Eckert placed in a tie for fifth in all-around with a score of 32.1. Camomile was sixth with a 29.95 total and Teusch was seventh with a 27.4.

Dekalb’s Sarah Boyd won vault with a 9.55, bars with an 8.65 and floor with a 9.55 on the way to claiming all-around honors with a total of 35.25.
