Middlesworth's 33 lead HU to big win over Siena Heights

Caleb Middlesworth scored 25 first-half points and finished with 33 on the night to lead the Huntington University men’s basketball team to a 121-61 drubbing of visiting Siena Heights on Thursday, Jan. 2.

Middlesworth, a 6-8 sophomore, hit 13 of 17 shots from the field on the night, including 5 of 6 from three-point land, as HU improved to 9-6 on the season.

Spencer Ballinger added a 7 of 11 performance from the field on his way to a 20-point effort. Konner Platt chipped in with 16 points and newcomer Tim Abel added 10 points off the bench.

The Foresters jumped off to a 63-39 halftime lead.

HU smoked the nets for 64.2 percent field goal shooting on the night, banging in 43 of 67 shots from the field, including 14 of 24 from downtown. A 19 of 22 effort at the free-throw line for 86.4 percent just added to the fun.

Peyton West tied his career high with 11 assists as HU had 31 dimes for its 43 buckets. Ballinger added five assists and Hank Pulver and Andrew Yoder passed out three apiece.

DeMarco Dickerson paced Siena Heights, 6-10, with 28 points. Keith Jordan Jr. added 21 points and Anthony Duncan had 14 points.

Abel, a transfer from Cincinnati Christian, hit 4 of 5 shots in his first outing for Coach Ty Platt’s squad.
