Lady Vikes lose to Homestead

The Huntington North High School girls’ varsity basketball team suffered a 46-34 defeat to visiting Homestead on Tuesday, Nov. 26.

After a tight opening quarter that saw the Lady Vikings trailing by just a point, 14-13, the Lady Spartans pulled away in the second. Homestead tossed in 13 points while holding Coach Matt Hinds’ squad to six to go into the half with a 27-19 advantage. The visitors expanded their lead to 42-27 by the end of three frames.

Huntington North, 5-2, was paced by Reece Colclesser, who scored 11 points. The junior did the balance of her damage from three-point land, where she hit three shots. Junior Katelynn Arnold and sophomore Addy Wiley supplemented her offensive effort with eight and seven points, respectively.

Wiley and Colclesser were also active on the glass, collecting five and four rebounds, respectively.

Freshman Taylor Double dished out four assists.

Homestead, 5-0, was led by Rylie Parker, who logged 20 points.

Huntington North lost the junior varsity contest, 27-21. The Lady Vikings were paced by junior Grace Gross, who totaled nine points.

Huntington North also fell in the freshmen tilt, 23-20.
