Soccermen's season ends with 1-0 tourney loss

The season came to an end for the Huntington University men’s soccer team with a 1-0 loss to the University of Rio Grande in the opening round of the NAIA Men’s Soccer Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 23, in Rio Grande, OH.

The Foresters, 15-5-3, were limited to just three shots by the Red Storm, who countered with 15 shots of their own, five of which were on goal. Rio Grande tallied what proved to be the game’s only goal at the 37:41 mark in the first half. Ewan McLauchlan scored off a pass from Sebastian Borquez to give the Red Storm a lead that would stick.

Gabe Greenfield took the loss in goal for Huntington. The junior made four saves while permitting Rio Grande’s score.

With the win, the Red Storm improve to 16-3-1 and advance to the tournament’s second round.
