Foresters open season with convincing win over OUC

Six players scored in double figures as the Huntington University men’s basketball team opened its season in convincing fashion with a 100-49 touting of Ohio University Chillicothe on Thursday, Oct. 31, at Platt Arena.

Senior Konner Platt led the way with a game-high 21 points, all from three-point range, and he also enjoyed game-high rebounding honors with 11 for a double-double.

University of Maine transfer Lewis Wang dropped in 14 points to go along with seven assists. Andrew Yoder and Spencer Ballinger each tossed in 13 points, David Arens scored 12 points off the bench and Caleb Middlesworth added  11.

Coach Ty Platt’s crew burned the nets for 62.9 percent shooting from the field on 39 of 62 accuracy, including 19 of 35 from beyond the arc.

On defense, meanwhile, the Foresters limited the visitors to an 18 of  55 showing from the field for 32.7 percent.

Hayden Mink led OUC with 12 points.

The Foresters built an 18 point advantage by halftime at 47-29, then early in the second half reeled off 17 unanswered points to extend the margin to 76-37.

Sophomore Keegan Fetters opened his Forester career with seven points, a game-high nine assists, five rebounds, two blocks and two steals coming off the HU bench.
