HNHS spikers win Southwood Invitational

The Huntington North High School volleyball team won the championship at the Southwood Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 5.

The Lady Vikings, 12-15, defeated Fort Wayne Northrop, 2-1 in the championship match after going 2-1 in pool play to get to that point.

The Lady Vikes beat Goshen, 2-0, lost to Muncie Central, 1-2, and topped Marion, 2-0, in pool play.

The Lady Vikes lost the first contest against Northrop, 23-25, but came back to get wins of 25-15, 15-10.

Morgan Robrock led the Lady Vikes with nine kills and 11 assists. Alexa Spahr added two aces and was tops on defense with 17 digs.

Taylor Reust disrupted play at the net with six blocks.

The Lady Vikes dispatched Goshen, 25-23, 25-23, as Reust and Mia Garner each put down six kills and Robrock had another 11 assists.

Reust added three blocks and Spahr had 13 digs.

The Lady Vikes fell to Muncie Central, 25-17, 15-25, 8-15.

Robrock had six kills and 12 assists, and Maddie Levy matched Robrock with six more kills.

Reust had two blocks and Spahr had 18 digs.

Robrock had eight kills and Preslee Willams had 10 assists as HNHS beat Marion, 25-19, 25-14.

Reust came up big with five aces.

Spahr had eight digs and Levy had four blocks to lead the defense.
