De Maa has career-best at Cougar Classic

Senior Logan De Maa had the best outing of his collegiate career to lead the Huntington University men’s golf team to a seventh-place finish at the Mount Vernon Cougar Classic on Saturday, Oct. 5.

De Maa fired a three-under-par 141 to place second among individuals on the day. He started with an even-par 72 and then turned in a 69 to earn a spot on the all-tournament team.

David Beck finished with a 159 to claim 24th place out of 65 golfers. Nick Whitney carded a 168, Chance Bressler had a 174 and Carter Rosebloom fired a 175 to complete the HU scoring at 642.

Ohio Dominican won the event with a 598 among nine teams. Mount Vernon had a 605, St. Mary of the Woods shot a 617, Ohio Dominican B fired a 619, Tiffin had a 639, Bluffton had a 641, Columbus State had a 655 and Mount Vernon B had a 660.
