HNHS netboys lose to East Noble

The Huntington North High School boys’ varsity tennis team fell to host East Noble, 2-3, on Tuesday, Sept. 10.

One of the Vikings’ wins was a three-set showdown at first doubles between Huntington North juniors Noah Zahn and Thomas Schweller and the hosts’ Lucas Denton and Connor Hesher. After dropping the opening set, 5-7, Zahn and Schweller bounced back with a 6-2 victory in the second frame, then capped off the contest with a hard-fought 7-6 (7-4) triumph in the third set.

Huntington North’s other win on the day came at first singles, where sophomore Carson Kitchen defeated Nolan Ogle, 6-2, 6-4.

At second singles, sophomore Jacob Daugherty fell to Vittoriio Bona, 3-6, 1-6. The No. 3 tilt saw sophomore Reid Eckert lose to Joel Glass, 0-6, 3-6.

A 7-5, 3-6, 4-6 defeat at second doubles rounded out the Vikings’ day. Senior Matthew Weill and sophomore Isaac Eckert were on the losing end of that score, falling to Max Bender and Jordan Jollief.

With the loss, Huntington North slips to 3-5.

The Vikings also lost the junior varsity match, 2-6.

Huntington North, 3-8, got wins from sophomore Alex Kramer and the doubles duo of Chase Mickley and Bryce Thompson.
