HU spikers split pair on Saturday

The Huntington University volleyball team went 1-1 on the second day of the Music City Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 7, falling to Loyola University before beating Freed-Hardeman University.

The Foresters, 6-5, swept Freed-Hardeman, 26-24, 25-13, 25-23.

The Huntington offense was led by senior Paige Eakright and sophomore Lindsay Ingenito, who produced 14 and 12 kills, respectively.

Jennings Tacosik facilitated the scoring with 34 assists. The junior also got in on the scoring herself with four aces.

Defensively, the Foresters got 15 digs from junior Ariene Butler and 12 from junior Nicole Flickinger. Eakright chipped in 10 digs.

Huntington lost in straight sets to Loyola, 19-25, 21-25, 21-25.

Coach Kelsey Herber’s team was paced by junior Brandy Michie, who logged six kills. Tacosik dispensed 14 assists.

Butler did her part to stymie the Loyola offense, registering 11 digs.
