Lady Vikes explode for big win over New Haven

The Huntington North High School varsity softball team exploded for 11 runs in the third inning and ran past visiting New Haven, 12-2, on Thursday, May 16.

Laney Shaw hit a two-run dinger and Maddie Levy had a three-run blast to highlight the big inning, which helped the Lady Vikings improve to 10-11 on the season, 2-5 in the Northeast 8.

New Haven led 2-1 going into the bottom of the third. Shaw plated the first two runs on her homer, Macy Lange doubled for a run, Sydney Selvage had a run-scoring single and Laney Shaw was hit by a pitch to force in another run. Levy then capped things with her three-run shot.

Selvage got the win in the circle, going five innings and allowing two runs on seven hits, with one strikeout.

Four Lady Vikings banged out two hits apiece as the team rang up 12 on the day. Lange, Kodi Douglas, Shaw and Levy each had the multi-hit games.
