Vikings win in 10 innings over New Haven

The Huntington North High School baseball team pushed across a run in the bottom of the 10th inning to defeat visiting New Haven, 4-3, on Tuesday, May 14.

Keegan Bartrom had a home run among three hits and knocked in three runs for the Vikings, 9-11 overall and 3-3 in the Northeast 8 Conference.

The game was tied at 2-all after the regulation seven innings, but both teams scored a run in the eighth to extend things further.

The Vikings scored two runs in the first inning, but New Haven tied with solo tallies in the third and fourth frames.

Zach Daugherty got the win, pitching the final .2 frames and yielding no runs on no hits. Mason Anderson went the first 5.1 innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on four hits, with seven strikeouts and three walks, while Trey Williams went 4 innings and gave up one earned run on three hits, with a strikeout and a walk.

Anderson added a pair of hits to the Vikings’ 10-hit day, and Williams had the remaining run batted in.
