Knights eliminate Foresters from NAIA National Championship Tournament

Tenth-ranked Middle Georgia State ran away from the Huntington University baseball team, 11-2, on Tuesday, May 14, to eliminate the Foresters from the 2019 NAIA National Championship Tournament.

The second loss in the Macon bracket sends the Foresters home with a record of 26-16.

The Knights, 40-15, tallied two runs in the second, third and fourth innings for a 6-0 lead. They added two more runs in the eight inning and three more in the ninth.

The Foresters scored solo tallies in the sixth and eight innings.

Adam Roser and Satchell Wilson each had two of Huntington’s five hits for the contest. Andrew Natividad had the lone HU RBI.

HU ace Alex McCutcheon went the first six innings and yielded five earned runs on six hits, with five strikeouts and two walks. DJ Moore pitched two innings and gave up two earned runs on four hits, with a strikeout and a walk. Brent Turner finished the game’s final inning, giving up two earned runs on two hits, with a strikeout and two walks.

Middle Georgia State wound up with 12 hits in the contest. Robbie Hanlon and Durant Jacobs each had two hits and two runs batted in.
