Lady Vike netters dispatch South Adams

The Huntington North High School girls’ varsity tennis team dispatched visiting South Adams, 4-1, on Friday, May 10.

The Lady Vikings, 12-3, swept the Lady Starfires in doubles action. In the No. 1 match, senior Maisy Wohlford and junior Maisy Kesler beat Josie Grabau and Gabi Bailey, 6-2, 6-4. The second tilt saw senior Crosley Stanley and junior Sydney Smekens upend Mileena Mowery and Ashleyn Claghorn, 6-0, 6-0.

In singles play, senior Jessica Henline took the first contest, triumphing over Hannah Dull, 6-0, 6-1. Junior Emily Daas rounded out the team’s wins with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Anna Dee in the third match.

Senior Emily Bokel, at second singles, won the opening set of her match, 6-4. However, her opponent, Alexa Kinsey, bounced back with wins of 6-4, 6-4 to record South Adams’ lone victory.

Huntington North also won the junior varsity match, 7-0.

The Lady Vikes, 12-1, got wins in singles play from Emma Bickel, Lindsey Hunt and Chloe Hart. Doubles victories came courtesy of Mary Young/Stephanie Atkinson, Naomi Richison/Emily Crist, Sami Leal/Kadi El-Hussein and Alayna Pohler/Adayn Pheral.
