Dirr qualifies for nationals with run at Keeler Invite

Aspen Dirr, a senior on the Huntington University women’s track team, qualified for the national meet in the 800-meter run with her performance at the Dr. Keeler Invitational on Friday, May 10, at North Central College.

The meet, with representation from over 110 schools, is designed to give athletes one last shot at qualifying for nationals. Dirr toed the line in the 800 meters for just the second time this spring and her time of 2:15.81 was enough to claim a spot at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Gulf Shores, AL.

It is the second national event Dirr has qualified for this season. She was part of the 3,200-meter relay team that qualified recently, along with Jessica Chojnacki, Mara McFarland and Molly Mitchell.

Mitchell and McFarland ran the 800 at the Keeler Invitational, too, and turned in a 2:18.96 and 2:30.21, respectively.
