Haught a twin winner but Viking trackboys lose

Ricky Haught won a pair of events but the Huntington North High School boys’ varsity track team fell to host New Haven, 75-56, on Tuesday, April 16.

Haught, a senior, captured the 110-meter hurdles in :19.00 and won the pole vault with a height of 11-00 for two of eight HNHS wins on the day.

Zach Hubartt won the high jump with a new HNHS freshman record of 6-1.

The Vikings won three more solo running events and two relays. Isaiah Clampitt took the 1,600-meter run in 4:59.65, Nolan Hughes took the 200-meter dash in :24.45 and Drew Davis captured the 3,200-meter run in 10:39.29.

HNHS also took the 1,600-meter relay, in 3:38.49, and the 3,200-meter relay in 9:18.91.

Second place points for HNHS came from Brock Spahr in the 800-meter run, in 2:06.80, and Christian Graft in the discus, with a heave of 118-08.

Third place points came from Logan Hippensteel in the 100 hurdles, Jacob Wust in the 800, Drew Nash in the 200, Devin Suchcicki in the 3,200, Max Hughes in the shot put and discus and Jonah Bussard in the pole vault.

The Vikings won the junior varsity contest, 62-21.
