Singles leads HNHS netgirls past Adams Central

A sweep in singles earned the Huntington North High School varsity tennis team a 3-2 win over visiting Adams Central on Thursday, April 11.

Jessica Henline and Emily Daas at first and third singles dispatched their foes in two straight sets, but Emily Bokel at second singles had to go three before triumphing. Henline topped Maddy Deroo, 6-1, 6-4; Daas topped Lexie Hurst, 6-1, 6-0, and Bokel gutted past Rendi Degitz, 6-2, 6-7, 6-4.

The Lady Vikes are 4-0 on the season.

The Lady Vikes’ first doubles team of Macy Wohlford and Maisy Kesler took a 0-6, 0-6 whitewashing at the hands of Saige Rinkenberger and Ava Kintz. The HNHS second doubles team of Crosley Stanley and Sydney Smekens lost in three sets to Abby Miller and Becca Fiechter, 6-4, 6-7, 3-6.

The Huntington North junior varsity won, 6-3.

Kadi El-Hussein won in singles. Doubles wins came from the teams of Stephanie Atkinson and Chloe Hart twice, Sami Leal and Naomi Richison twice, Becca Rice and Aydan Pheral and Bickel and Hussein.
