Lady Vike netgirls sweep past Peru

Singles players Jessica Henline and Emily Daas lost only a game apiece in their matches to lead the Huntington North High School girls’ tennis team to a 5-0 sweep of host Peru on Tuesday, April 9.

Henline, a senior, battered Claire Boyer, 6-0, 6-1, and Daas, a junior, just reversed those scores in an easy win against Emily Campos as HNHS improved to 2-0 on the young season.

The third Lady Viking singles player, Emily Bokel, dispatched Cate Wolfe, 7-5, 6-2.

In doubles, the top team of Macy Wohlford and Maisy Kesler breezed past Madisyn Carrico and Molly Gray, 6-1, 6-1. The second doubles team of Crosley Stanley and Sydney Smekens were pushed to three sets but were up to the challenge and won, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 over Casidy Bartel and Libby Rogers.

The Huntington North junior varsity won, 5-3.

Singles wins came from Emma Bickel, Kadi El-Hussein and Sami Leal, and double wins came from the teams of Mary Young and Stephanie Atkinson, and Chloe Hart and Naomi Richison.
