Bellarmine blanks HU netwomen

The Huntington University women’s tennis team got blanked by host Bellarmine University, losing 0-9 on Saturday, March 9.

The Foresters’ most competitive match came at first singles, where Meg Dolde went three sets with Bellarmine’s Jennifer Skonieczny. After losing the first set, 3-6, Dolde bounced back with a 6-4 victory in the second. Skonieczny, however, took the third frame, outlasting Dolde, 10-7.

At sixth singles, Huntington’s Marla Odendahl fell to Madison Devillez, 4-6, 4-6. Lisa Colling got defeated in the third match, losing 3-6, 1-6 to Maggie Walroth. Lanae Singleton suffered a 2-6, 2-6 setback in the fifth tilt to Aubrey Smith. Morgan Fitzpatrick lost to Ashley Jonathan in the second contest, 2-6, 1-6. Anastasiia Evstifeeva rounded out solo play for Huntington with an 0-6, 0-6 defeat versus Ava Ratcliff at fourth.

In doubles action, Dolde and Fitzpatrick fell to Walroth and Jonathan, 1-6, in the first match. The No. 3 contest saw Evstifeeva and Molly Burton lose to Smith and Devillez, 1-6. Singleton and Colling got blanked in the second tilt, falling 0-6 to Skonieczny and Ratcliff.

With the loss, Huntington falls to 9-5.
