Schulte tops Viking swimmers at Warsaw sectional

A fifth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay was the best showing of the day for the four-boy Huntington North swim team on Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Warsaw Swimming and Diving Sectional.

The relay team of freshman Colten Schulte, sophomore Cole Davidson, senior Keegan Mautz and junior Nathan York clocked in at 1:56.31 and garnered 28 points on the way to the team finishing 10th among 14 squads with 86 points.

Schulte had the best individual finish of the meet for HNHS, taking sixth in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:02.06.

Also swimming A Finals, Mautz placed eighth in the 200-yard individual medley, in 2:23.90, and the 400-yard freestyle relay team placed eighth in 3:47.70, shaving almost five seconds off their preliminary run time.

In the consolation finals, York placed 12th in the 100-yard butterfly, touching in 1:05.93, and 16th in the 50-yard freestyle, in :25.24.

Davidson was 13th in the 500-yard freestyle, clipping three seconds off his prelim time with a clocking of 5:50.72, and was 15th in the 100-yard breaststroke, in 1:17.10.

Warsaw won the team title with 419 points.
