Vikings triumph over Plymouth

The Huntington North High School boys’ varsity basketball team jumped out to a 20-6 first quarter lead and never looked back on the way to a 56-35 triumph over host Plymouth on Friday night, Feb. 15.

The Vikings hit 12 of 14 shots from the field for 85.7 percent on the way to building a 34-13 lead by the end of the first half. They led 44-23 heading into the final stanza on the way to their 17th win in 21 decisions this season.

Hank Pulver had 14 points and Sawyer Stoltz and Zach Daugherty each had 13 points to lead the Vikings. Trey Williams added eight points and Jordan Hollowell had five as only five players scored for HNHS despite 12 seeing action.

The Vikings wound up hitting 21 of 32 shots from the field for 65.6 percent and added 7 of 10 from the free-throw line for 70 percent.

They picked up 15 assists for their 21 hoops, with Daugherty having five and Stoltz and Williams each getting three.

Stoltz also had a game-high eight rebounds and three blocked shots.

Jake Reichard scored 10 points to lead Plymouth, 13-6.

The Huntington North Junior varsity improved to 16-1 on the season with a 39-26 win.

Sam Thompson led the way for the JV Vikes with 15 points. Zach Hubartt added eight.
