Viking baseball team has a date at Parkview

The Huntington North High School varsity baseball team will play at Parkview Field, in Fort Wayne, on Wednesday, May 8, at 7 p.m.

Playing as the home team, the Vikings will take on East Noble in a Northeast 8 Conference matchup.

The game is a part of the Parkview Sports Medicine High School Baseball Series. Now in its sixth year, the series gives area high school baseball teams the opportunity to play at Parkview Field, which is the home of Fort Wayne’s Minor League Baseball team, the TinCaps.

Parkview Sports Medicine underwrites the cost of the series so participating schools do not have any ballpark rental costs. Games serve as fund-raisers for the schools, with the majority of tickets sales going back to the schools. The remaining portion of gate proceeds goes toward Parkview Field’s Ballpark Maintenance and Improvement Fund.

The series’ games will feature giveaways, entertainment and concessions for fans, similar to TinCaps games. Players will get to see their headshots displayed on Parkview Field’s video board, just as professional players’ headshots are.

All games in the series will broadcast live on TV on Comcast Network 81 and stream online at ESP NFortWayne.com and SummitCitySports.com.
