Chesterman lone Forester on top step at indoor conference track meet

Elijah Chesterman was the only Huntington University man to bring home gold from the Crossroads League Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Taylor University on Friday, Feb. 8, and Saturday, Feb. 9.

Chesterman, a sophomore and former Huntington North High School star, took the 1,000-meter run in a personal best 2:35.47 for the first all-conference honor of his career.

Another former HNHS star, Adam Woods, got a repeat CL all-conference honor, claiming third in the heptathlon with 3,777 points.

The Foresters got fourth place finishes from Avniel Barrow in the 60-meter dash, in :07.04; Adrien Gentrie in the mile, in 4:26.54 and Cameron Worsham in the 60-meter hurdles, in :08.55.

The Foresters also got fourth in a pair of relays. The 1,600-meter squad of Peyton Depriest, Andrew Zachary, Josiah Sovine and CJ Robertson went 3:29.26 for its points and the distance medley relay team of Justin Ayres, Graham Johnson, Justin Edward and Nick Childs clocked in at 10:34.82 for its placing.

HU placed sixth with 49 points. Bethel won the meet with 166 points.
