Huntington North's Sunderman third at state girls' wrestling tourney

Amaya Sunderman, a senior at Huntington North High School, captured third place in the 170-pound weight class at the Indiana High School Girls’ Wrestling State Finals on Friday, Jan. 11, at Hamilton Heights High School, in Arcadia.

Sunderman started off the tournament with a 3-2 victory over Seymour’s Emma Gillaspy. In semifinals, Sunderman squared off against Penn’s Amanda Feder, who managed to pin her in 3:42. Sunderman then faced Garrett’s Angi Amburgey in the third-place match and defeated her, 4-2.

Richmond’s Jessica Moore topped the 170 weight class while Feder finished as runner-up.
