Lady Vikes finish regular season with win over DeKalb

The Huntington North High School girls’ varsity basketball team dispatched host DeKalb, 40-27, in its regular season finale on Friday, Jan. 25.

Maddy Robrock scored 17 points to lead the Lady Vikings to their seventh win in 21 outings this season. The Lady Vikes finished the Northeast 8 Conference season with a 4-3 record.

Reece Colclesser had seven points, and she and Robrock each pulled down six rebounds as HNHS built a 34-23 boards advantage.

The Lady Vikes hit 17 of 50 shots from the field for 34 percent and added 6 of 9 successes at the free-throw line for 66.7 percent. The Lady Barons hit 12 of 39 shots from the field for 34.6 percent and were 0 of 2 from the free-throw line.

Paige Pettis led Dekalb, 2-19, with 11 points.

The Lady Vikes took a 16-8 lead after the first frame and held a 24-15 lead at halftime. They expanded the lead to 34-23 after three quarters.

The Lady Vikes junior varsity squad improved to 13-7 with a 35-15 win.

Grace Sell led the JV Lady Vikes with nine points and Chloe Kaufman had eight.
