Fryman scores career-high 30 in HU win

Sarah Fryman scored a career-high 30 points and led the Huntington University women’s basketball team to a 66-57 triumph over host Goshen College on Wednesday, Jan. 9.

Fryman, a junior, knocked down 10 of 18 field goal attempts, which was highlighted by a 4 of 6 effort from three-point land. She also went 6 of 6 at the free-throw line.

With Fryman spearheading the offense, the Foresters took a 14-9 lead in the first quarter, were up 33-27 at the half and enjoyed a 49-39 advantage after three frames.

Huntington, 11-7, 4-3 in Crossroads League play, also got 12 points from senior Brooke Saylor, who also collected 15 rebounds to notch a double-double. Sophomore Sam Hammel was active on the glass, too, grabbing eight caroms to help give the visitors a 38-36 edge on the backboards.

The Foresters converted 23 of 57 field goal attempts for 40.4 percent and 10 of 16 freebie tries for 62.5 percent.

Goshen, 7-12, 0-7 in league action, was paced by Graysen Cockerham, who tallied 18 points and collected eight boards.

The Maple Leafs shot 33.9 percent from the field of 19 of 56 marksmanship. They added 12 points in 16 attempts at the charity stripe for 75 percent.
