Lady Vike swimmers get second straight win

The Huntington North High School girls’ swim team picked up its second straight win with a 94-69 triumph over host South Adams on Thursday, Dec. 6.

The Lady Vikings, 2-4, got individual wins from Macy Lange, Laney Shaw and Allie Aschliman, and the three were also on two winning relay teams -- the 200-yard freestyle and the 400-yard freestyle.

Lange, a senior, won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:12.24, while Shaw, a junior, took the 100-yard freestyle in 1:01.57. Aschliman, also a junior, captured the 500-yard freestyle in 6:20.83.

The trio teamed with Alyssa Brinkman to win the 200 relay in 1:56.10. They then teamed with Morgan Cogar to win the 400 relay in 4:24.94.

The trio of winners each added second place points for HNHS as well. Lange was runner-up in the 200-yard freestyle, in 2:24.70, Shaw was runner-up in the 50-yard freestyle, in :27.87 and Aschliman was second in the 100-yard butterfly, in 1:05.88.

Brinkman, Bekah Brunner and Victoria Donaldson also got runner-up finishes for HNHS. Brinkman took second in the 100 back in 1:17.43, Brunner was No. 2 in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:55.36 and Donaldson was runner-up in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:41.12.

Brinkman took third in the 100 free, in 1:10.21, Crosley Stanley was third in the 50 free, in :37.31 and Mandi Lippe was third in the 100 breast, in 1:43.35.
