HNHS girl swimmers lose to East Noble

The Huntington North High School girls’ varsity swim team fell to visiting East Noble, 106-64, on Tuesday, Nov. 27.

The Lady Vikings were paced by Allie Aschliman, who posted wins in the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly. The junior topped the freestyle in 2:14.79 and the butterfly in 1:06.17.

Laney Shaw also put forth a golden effort for Huntington North, taking the 50-yard freestyle in :28.02. The junior also earned runner-up honors in the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 1:02.32.

Macy Lange captured second place for the Lady Vikes in a pair of races. The senior was runner-up in the 200-yard individual medley, finishing in 2:40.80, as well as in the 100-yard breaststroke, clocking in at 1:22.50.

Lange, Shaw and Aschliman each swam legs in a pair of relays that resulted in second-place finishes for Huntington North. The trio, plus Alyssa Brinkman, swam to silver in the 200-yard medley relay, stopping the timer in 2:14.93. The threesome, with senior Morgan Cogar, also put posted a runner-up showing in the 200-yard freestyle relay, finishing in 1:58.40.

Individually, Brinkman claimed second in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking in at 1:19.10.

Cogar took bronze in the 500-yard freestyle for the Lady Vikes. The senior touched the wall in 7:00.17.

Sophomore Bekah Brunner rounded out the team’s podium finishes in solo races with a third-place effort in the 100 butterfly, finishing in 1:21.29.

Brunner, Cogar and Brinkman, along with senior Crosley Stanley, placed third in the 400-yard freestyle relay, clocking in at 5:09.37.
