Foresters jump out to big early lead, thump Aquinas

The Huntington University men’s basketball team raced off to a 21-5 lead to start the game and never looked back as it defeated host Aquinas, 78-57, on Tuesday, Nov. 6.

Konner Platt paced the Foresters with a game-best 22 points. Caleb Middlesworth added 15 points and Tyler Arens posted his second double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Senior transfer Nick Macon made his presence felt in a number of ways, tossing in 11 points, passing out eight assists, grabbing five rebounds and making five steals.

Zac Owens added 10 points as the HU starters scored all but six points in their  third win against just one loss.

The Foresters held a 48-28 advantage after the first half.

Platt added seven rebounds for the Foresters.

Rob Deiz had 17 points and DeShawn Lewis added 12 for Aquinas.

The Foresters hit 28 of 57 shots from the field for 49.1 percent and added 15 successes in 16 tries at the free-throw line for 93.8 percent marksmanship. They limited Aquinas to 20 of 62 from the floor for 32.3 percent. The visitors added a 9 of 15 effort at the free-throw line for 60 percent.
