Fryman leads HU women over Holy Cross

Sarah Fryman scored 29 points to lead the Huntington University women’s basketball team past visiting Holy Cross, 78-68, on Tuesday night, Nov. 6.

Fryman, a junior, connected on 11 of 19 shots from the field and all five of her free throw tries to help HU improve to 3-1 on the young campaign.

The Foresters did their most damage in the third quarter when they turned a 33-32 halftime deficit into a 59-48 advantage heading into the final frame.

Maddie Richer added 13 points and four assists to the HU cause, which didn’t have starter Sam Hammel, who missed the game. Brooke Saylor added 10 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

Keysha Streater and Alex Forster notched 18 points apiece to lead four Holy Cross players in double figures. Arielle Thatcher scored 13 points and Jessica Norris added 11.

The Foresters hit 30 of 60 shots from the field for an even 50 percent and added 9 of 13 from the foul stripe for 69.2 percent. The visitors hit 25 of 53 from the field for 47.2 percent and added 11 of 18 from the line for 61.1 percent.
