MVNU tops HU soccerwomen

The Huntington University women’s soccer team got defeated by visiting Mount Vernon Nazarene University, 3-1, on Wednesday, Oct. 17.

After a scoreless opening half, the Cougars tallied their trio of goals in the second, scoring them in unanswered fashion. The Foresters managed to get on the board at the 67:42 mark, but it was too little, too late.

Huntington, 4-11, 1-5 in the Crossroads League, was paced by Matea Knispel, who scored the lone Forester goal. Courtney McKown assisted on the score. The Foresters finished with 12 shots, seven of which were on goal.

Danielle Dehner took the loss in goal for Huntington, allowing Mount Vernon’s three scores while also logging five saves.

With the victory, the Cougars improve to 10-4-2, 4-3 in league action.
