Vikings lose to Spartans in soccer sectional championship game

The Huntington North High School boys’ varsity soccer team lost 5-1 to Homestead in the championship game of the Homestead Boys’ Sectional Soccer Tournament on Monday, Oct. 8, at Warsaw.

Homestead, 11-5-3, scored a pair of goals in the first half and upped the margin to 3-0 before HNHS got on the board on a Carter Mertz goal off a Peyton Miller assist with about 25 minutes remaining in the game.

The Vikings finish the season with a record of 8-8-3.

Viking starting goalkeeper Aidan Hosler gave up four goals and had 10 saves in 70 minutes of play. Ethan Stafford gave up one goal and made one save in the final 10 minutes.
