Fall portion of HU netwomen season ends with CL loss

The fall portion of the Huntington University women’s tennis team season came to an end Thursday, Oct. 4, with a 2-5 loss to host Marian University in the semifinals of the Crossroads League Tennis Tournament.

The Foresters, the tourney’s No. 3 seed, got wins from Lisa Colling at third singles and the first doubles team of Meg Dolde and Morgan Fitzpatrick as they finished the fall with a 9-4 mark.

Colling defeated Laura Kuebler, 6-7, 6-3, 6-2, while the doubles team was an 8-6 winner over Maria Angela Sunga and Maria Luken.

Marian was the tourney’s second seed.

In other matches completed before the outcome was decided, Colling and Lanae Singleton lost at second doubles to Liza Lewis and Kuebler, 6-8; Anastasiia Evstifeeva and Marla Odendahl at third doubles lost to  Mary Mullaney and Emma Wood, 5-8; Dolde at first singles fell 3-6, 0-6 to Teodora Simiion at first singles; Fitzpatrick lost at second singles, 3-6, 2-6, to Lueken; and Evstifeeva at fourth singles fell to Mullaney, 2-6, 7-5, 2-6.
