HU women trounce Bethel in quarters at CL tourney

The third-seeded Huntington University women’s tennis team trounced sixth-seeded Bethel College, 9-0, in the quarterfinals of the Crossroads League Tournament on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Klopfenstein Courts.

With the victory, the Foresters, 9-3, advance to the semifinal round, where they will take on second-seeded Marian University on Thursday, Oct. 4.

In doubles play, Meg Dolde and Morgan Fitzpatrick dispatched Taylor Freedline and Caroline Boger in the No. 1 match, 8-4. The second contest saw Lisa Colling and Lanae Singleton log an 8-3 win over Abbey VanDiver and Layla Jojo. At third singles, Anastasiia Evstifeeva and Marla Odendahl topped Stephanie Cressman and Zoe Laubach, 8-3.

In singles action, Dolde bested Freedline in the top tilt, 2-6, 6-4, 6-1; Fitzpatrick defeated Boger, 6-2, 2-6, 6-1, at the second spot; Colling made quick work of Grace Haley in the third match, winning 6-1, 6-1; Evstifeeva took the fourth contest with a 6-3, 7-5 decision versus Jojo; Singleton beat Emily Runestad, 6-4, 1-6, 10-3, in the fifth tilt; and Odendahl triumphed in the sixth contest over VanDiver, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).
