Schroeder leads HU golfwomen to fifth at Brookwood

Betsy Schroeder placed ninth out of 46 golfers to pace the Huntington University women’s golf team to a fifth place finish out of nine teams at the Battle of Brookwood Invitational hosted by HU in Fort Wayne.

The Foresters were the picture of consistency, firing a 339 on Monday before coming back with a 338 on Tuesday for an overall score of 677.

Schroeder, a junior from Fort Wayne, shot a 157 for her top-10 finish.

Alexandria Maris carded a 165 for 18th place, Rachel Blauert took 30th with a 177 and Olivia Kreiger shot a 179 to claim 31st.

Megan Higgins took 34th with a 184 as non-scorer.

Indiana Tech took home the title with a 610, followed by Indiana Wesleyan with a 612, Grace with a 643 and Spring Arbor with  a669.

A second HU team competed as well, placing ninth with a score of 805. Sophie Frazier shot a 192, Katie Springer and Alayna Steely each had rounds of 202 and Sara Scott shot a 209.
