Viking golfers eighth at sectional

The Huntington North High School boys’ golf team placed eighth at the Warsaw Boys’ Golf Sectional on Saturday, June 2, at Rozella Golf Course.

Led by Daniel Shivley with a round of 88, the Vikings shot a team score of 370, 62 strokes off the winning total posted by Warsaw, which nipped Culver Academies by one stroke for the title among 11 teams.

Columbia City got the remaining team spot to advance to regional by shooting a 316.

Graham Scher and Bramley Shultz fired round of 90 and Jack Young had a 102 to complete the HNHS scoring.

The non-scoring Viking, Caden Brubaker, was disqualified.

Harley Kruschwitz of Manchester was the individual medalist, firing a 73 to win honors by a stroke over Michael Perea of Culver. Nicholas Decker of Columbia City was third and Samuel Yeager of Warsaw was fourth with scores of 75.

Krushwitz, Beau Hepler of Triton and Chapman Yoder of Plymouth advanced as individuals.
