Vikes' 3,200 relay heading to state

The Huntington North High School boys’ track team will be represented at the state finals by its 3,200-meter relay squad, which earned an at-large bid with its performance at the Marion Regional on Thursday, May 24.

While the Vikings’ relay team placed fourth, outside the top three advancing spots, its time of 7:58.26 was fast enough statewide to qualify it for the season’s final meet, which is set for Saturday, June 2, at Indiana University, in Bloomington. The team will be seeded 14th.

The relay squad is comprised of junior Brock Spahr and seniors Carson Bolinger, Aaron Hendryx and Kasey Konz.

While they didn’t manage to advance, Hendryx and junior Jacob Wust posted top-10 finishes in individual events for Huntington North. Hendryx claimed seventh place in the 800-meter run in 2:01.64 while Wust took 10th in the 3,200-meter run in 9:56.20.

The Vikings placed 24th at the meet with seven points. Carroll captured the regional crown with a register of 92.33.
