Unbeaten Carroll blanks Lady Vikes in net sectional championship

The season came to an end for the Huntington North High School girls’ tennis team with an 0-5 loss to Carroll in the championship match of the Carroll Regional on Wednesday, May 23.

The Lady Chargers, 23-0, just proved to be too much for the Lady Vikings, winning every match in straight sets. Huntington North’s closest tilt of the day came at second doubles, where the senior duo of Braxtyn Maroney and Leann Ringenberg managed to win four games before succumbing to Katie Beier and Maria Casiano, 2-6, 2-6.

At first singles, junior Jessica Henline fell to Sydney Jackson, 1-6, 1-6, while senior Kassidy Thompson lost by that same score to Katelyn VanWygarden in the second tilt. The third contest saw senior Tarah Zumbrun get blanked by Bailey Newman, 0-6, 0-6.

The Lady Vikings’ No. 1 doubles team of junior Macy Wohlford and junior Jule Nogaj rounded out the team’s day with an 0-6, 0-6 defeat to Mia Toscos and Lauren VanWygarden.

With the defeat, Huntington North finishes the season 18-5.
