Lady Vikes advance to softball sectional title tilt

The Huntington North High School softball team advanced to the championship game of the Homestead Sectional with a 9-2 rout of North Side on Wednesday, May 23.

With the win, the Lady Vikings, 14-11, move on to play host Homestead for the sectional title this evening, Thursday, May 24.

Huntington North got off to a fast start, scoring five runs in the first two innings. North Side got on the board with a solo tally in the fourth, only to see Coach Paris Seibold’s squad counter with four more scores in the sixth and seventh frames to put the game out of reach. Another Lady Legend solo tally in the final inning brought the tilt’s scoring to a close.

The Lady Vikings banged out 12 hits. Sophomore Laney Shaw smacked a two-run home run and finished with two hits, three runs batted in and two runs scored. Freshman Maddie Levy produced two base pokes and three RBI while junior Macy Lange produced a hit and two RBI.

Sydney Selvage pitched Huntington North to the win. The sophomore went the distance in the circle, yielding only three hits and two runs, neither of which were earned, while racking up 10 strikeouts.
