Young Vike runners seventh at 9/10 Invitational

The Huntington North High School boys’ track team, competing with its freshman and sophomore members, finished seventh at the 9/10 Invitational, which it hosted on Saturday, May 12.

Three athletes turned in runner-up finishes for the Vikings. Freshman Connor Miller captured second in the 110-meter hurdles with a clocking of :18.3. Sophomore Nate Burns put forth a silver effort in the 300-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in :42.6. Sophomore Isaiah Clampitt rounded out the trio with his runner-up showing in the 3,200-meter run, stopping the timer in 10:35.8.

Huntington North’s only other top-four finish came courtesy of its 400-meter relay team, which claimed third in :46.6. The relay quartet was made up of sophomore Logan Jones, sophomore Jonah Bussard, freshman Gabriel Krause and Burns.

Bellmont won the meet with 117 points. East Noble took second with 110 points, followed by Churubusco, 94; Mt. Vernon, 89.5; Muncie Central, 62; Marion, 56; Huntington North, 54; Rochester, 27.5; Wabash, 8; and Jay County, 3.
