Lady Vikes trounce Snider

The Huntington North High School varsity softball team trounced visiting Snider, 12-6, on Thursday, May 10.

The Lady Vikings, pulling even on the season at 10-10, jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back. While the Lady Panthers, 4-13, got on the board with a pair of runs in the second, Coach Paris Seibold’s squad countered with solo tallies in the second through fourth frames to craft a 7-2 advantage. The visitors logged solo tallies of their own in the fifth and sixth innings, but the hosts responded with five runs in their half of the sixth to put the game far out of reach.

Sydney Selvage got it done for Huntington North in the circle and at the plate. The sophomore pitched a complete game, yielding five hits and Snider’s half-dozen runs, only three of which were earned, to secure the win. She also struck out five and issued as many walks. Offensively, Selvage helped her own cause with two hits, one of which was a home run, and three runs batted in.

Senior Kendra Arnold registered three hits and two RBI while freshman Maddie Levy logged two base pokes, as many RBI and scored a team-high three runs for the Lady Vikes, who finished with 12 hits.
