Vikings to 20-1 with 5-1 win over Norwell

Gage Sandlin ran his record to 7-1 and Ian McCutcheon had three hits as the Huntington North High School varsity baseball team dumped host Norwell, 5-1, on Thursday, May 10.

Norwell, 14-6, scored the game’s first run in the first inning, but the Vikings showed why the are 20-1 as they dropped a four-spot on the Knights in the fourth inning. HNHS added an insurance tally in the fifth.

Trey Williams pitched the first two frames for HNHS and gave up the lone Norwell run on four hits, with one strikeout and one walk. Sandlin came on and threw scoreless ball for the next three frames, giving up three hits with three strikeouts and three walks, and Zach Daugherty closed things out with two perfect frames, having one strikeout.

McCutcheon wound up with half of the Vikings’ six hits on the afternoon. Williams had a double and two runs batted in and Keegan Bartrom also had an RBI.
