Lady Vikes lose early lead, game to Norwell

An early lead didn’t stick for the Huntington North High School varsity softball team as it fell to visiting Norwell, 8-4, on Wednesday, May 9.

The Lady Vikings, 9-10, scored twice in the first inning and once more in the second to craft a 3-0 advantage. The Lady Knights got on the board with two runs in the fourth, then took the lead with a three-run fifth. The visitors added three insurance runs in the seventh while holding Coach Paris Seibold’s squad to just a solo tally in its half of the frame to seal the win.

Offensively, Huntington North was paced by senior Kendra Arnold, who finished with two hits and a run batted in. Junior Macy Lange registered two base pokes as well while also scoring a run. Sophomores Laney Shaw and Kodi Douglass and freshman Maddie Levy each banged out a hit and an RBI, with Shaw’s being a home run.

Arnold handled pitching duties for the Lady Vikes and took the loss. The senior hurler yielded eight hits and Norwell’s eight runs, five of which were earned, in seven innings. She also racked up eight strikeouts and issued five walks.
