Four Vikings combine on one-hitter in win over Snider

Four pitchers combined on a one-hitter as the Huntington North High School varsity baseball team blanked host Fort Wayne Snider, 8-0, on Friday, April 20.

Levi Bennett went the first 3.1 innings and got the win, yielding the lone Snider hit while striking out three and walking four. Trey Williams then went 1.2 innings, with a strikeout and walk, and Ian McCutcheon and Jarret Gray each pitched an inning, and both got one strikeout.

The Vikings, 7-1, produced all the runs they would need in a two-run first inning. They added an insurance tally in the third inning and then planted a five-spot in the fourth inning.

The Vikings only had six hits in the contest but were helped by six walks and seven Snider errors.

Bennett had two of the Vikings’ six hits, and Gray knocked in three runs. Zach Daugherty knocked in two more runs.
